These next two weeks we are going to be learning about two different ways to rein, or steer, our horses. Reining is one of the first skills that many participants at JHTR work on, and we have developed ways for these skills to be practiced at home too!
Neck reining is a way to steer your horse with one hand, typically leaving your other hand free to open or close gates, carry materials or hold a rope. Enjoy a video with Instructor Sarah where she demonstrates how to neck rein: JHTR How To Neck Rein. Next, join Instructor Sarah and Instructor Cailey as they Practice Neck Reining at Home. Lastly, use the attached task analysis for step by step directions for practicing your neck reining skills at home.
We miss you all, and hope you are well!
